Flap surgery is done to restore periodontal and bone health when normal scaling and root planning have failed to eliminate the pocket. Flap surgeries are done to correct any bone deformities by providing access to the surgical site . Bone grafts are placed to improve bone strength, width and height to support an implant. Flap surgery involves scaling and root planning followed by reflection of flap and correction of deformity and sutures are placed for a week with a periodontal dressing. It takes a week to heal and great care should be taken after flap surgeries.
